Buddha #68 – clackers

We don’t use them at the Soto temple where I sit now,  but at the Rinzai  temple where I used to sit we always used these wooden clackers at the start and end of walking meditation.   (There is probably a proper name for them but I couldn’t find it…so clackers it is.)  These are mahogany, with the Japanese word for Buddha burned across them, finished with linseed oil (I will put on wax  before they leave home too.)  They make a VERY satisfying clack!
