why? well, why not?

Inspired by Noah Scalin’s skull-a day project (http://skulladay.blogspot.com/ ) and feeling the need to try some different things, the idea came up…make a buddha a day.  It’s really that simple.  So I will try to create one buddha per day, and have each be at least somewhat different, for all of 2015.  This is all open to my interpretation of how a buddha will be represented of course…and I am very open to suggestions for future items!

Vickie Willis is also going to contribute some writing to the project by writing a poem each day…hopefully the work matches, or doesn’t match, or does something otherwise entertaining. Much like the representations of buddhas, the definition of poem is open to interpretation. She has been known to write academically on geek rock, Joss Whedon, rhetoric, and jazz, and to get obsessed with cameras from time to time. See her stuff here: http://technopoesis.com/

About Me (Julian:) I found Buddhism about a decade ago and have practiced Rinzai and Soto zen, currently at the beautiful Ekoji Buddhist Temple in Richmond, VA.  I am a bass player and generally interested in making stuff, especially printmaking and metalwork – I am the president of the Central Virginia Blacksmith Guild.  You can buy some stuff here if you like: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ioarts
